My name is Akil Dawkins and I have been working as a digital artist for about 20 years. After I graduated from the College for Creative Studies, I worked as an art direction intern at J. Walter Thompson. Then I got a job at Bluewater/Visual Productions Inc. where I did a variety things from modeling, texturing, and rendering in mental ray, to converting engineering data for use in 3D production. For the past 15 years I have been working for Stardock Entertainment. I started out making spaceships and cinematics for Galciv 2. From there I moved on to working on the Elemental and Sins of the Solar Empire franchises. On Elemental I did modeling, texturing, rigging, and character animation. On Sins I modeled and textured space ships. I also did modeling, texturing, concept art, and art direction on Galactic Civilizations 3. Later, I moved onto the Stardock cinematics team, where I did modeling and look development for game trailers. I was also the lead artist for Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation, and Star Control Origins. I am currently working on an unannounced AAA title for PC and console.
